A New Birth into Christ
Ruslan, for whom many have been praying, made the decision to be baptized into Christ during the final week of our stay in Ukraine. This 18-year-old young man had been thinking about the decision for two years. He and Patrick met a number of times prior to the baptism and I was impressed by the sincerity of his faith in Jesus and the practical understanding of what it means to devote your life to Christ. |

English Courses Continue
The sounds of English with a Ukrainian lilt can again be heard as Oksana Geogdzhayeva and Luda Shandruk continue this ministry started three years ago by Nadya. Both of these young women are students in the Ternopil Pedagogical University working toward their degrees in English education. They look forward to sharing reports with us about this work in our next update. |

Thanksgiving Service
Songs of praise and thanksgiving were interspersed with testimonies, poems and other special music to express to God our gratefulness for His manifold blessings this year. Churches in Ukraine celebrate thanksgiving on either the first or the second Sunday of October. The Ternopil church prepared a special thanksgiving worship service for October 5 and then shared a fellowship meal afterward. |

Conference for Teachers of Children
Oksana Geogdzhayeva and Tonya Harevich traveled to Kyiv for a weekend conference for teachers of children. Oksana shares her impressions of the conference: "During October 17-18 there was a conference for Sunday school teachers in Kyiv. It was a real blessing for us to participate in that event. We had nice studies about organization of Sunday school classes. We learned many new things about working with teenagers and smaller children and the peculiarities of different age groups. There was also a great exhibition of Christian literature. So we were very glad to do some shopping!" |

New Songbook
One of the final projects completed before our departure for the States was a new songbook for the Ternopil congregation. Containing 126 songs (the previous one had 49), this new songbook is ready to be given to a printer for publishing. Nadya worked for many months, and particularly the last few weeks before our October 30 travel date, to leave the church with this precious gift for worshiping the Lord. In addition to the many hours she devoted to this project, she also recorded the melodies for each of the new songs and then we put these onto a CD for the church to continue learning. |

Petya Khomyak to attend Christian College in Canada
We want to congratulate Petya Khomyak for his acceptance into the Living Word Bible College in Manitoba, Canada. This opportunity came at a time when Petya was wondering what God had in store for his life. Although he had earlier expressed his desire to follow in the footsteps of his father, who had been a preacher and missionary, it seemed that Petya's interests were taking him in a different direction. Now we're excited that his enthusiasm for full-time ministry has returned and that he will be studying in order to return to Ukraine and work on continuing to build God's church. |

Special Provision for the Pasichna Family
We were very grateful for a gift from an individual in Texas given specifically for the Pasichna family. We shared about this woman's situation in an earlier report. Thanks to this gift, her older great-granddaughter, Tanya (pictured on the right), has been able to start a year-long dental treatment of a problem that had already cost her a number of her teeth. We praise God for the way that He provides through His servants. |
